County Manager Juan Vaughn presented his proposed funding plan for FY2025-26, including historical fund-balance context and a recommended general fund total of roughly $24,000,000. Vaughn outlined priorities included in the proposal: positions for EMS and courthouse security, part-time parks and recreation workers, IT updates and potential capital purchases such as a new ambulance. He told commissioners that while many salary increase requests came in, he did not include across-the-board pay raises in this budget due to fiscal constraints. "I am not proposing an increase in the property tax rate," Vaughn said. Several commissioners urged staff to re-examine starting pay for deputies to improve retention.
