Wilkes County names members to Board of Equalization & Review; appoints David Jones to North Wilkesboro Planning Board ETJ seat

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners appointed members to two panels on Feb. 17.
For the 2026 County Board of Equalization & Review (E&R) the board appointed Commissioner Casey Johnson along with Ronnie Walsh, Carmen James, Steve Crysel and Janie Cheek to serve for the 2026 tax year; the E&R hears property-value appeals. Appraisal Department Supervisor John Hayes presented the nominations.
The board also filled an extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) seat on the North Wilkesboro Planning Board. County Manager John Yates said the North Wilkesboro board unanimously recommended David Jones to complete a term expiring June 30, 2029; commissioners appointed Jones to the position.
