I/T Director Pawel Bialczak presented a newly reviewed version of the county's Internet, Email & Computer Use policy originally adopted in 2016; updates include dual-authentication requirements for remote access and new language addressing Artificial Intelligence and acceptable use. Commissioners discussed routine blocks on social networking and web-based email; Commissioner John Alsop asked why the policy runs 16 pages. Administrator Tim Curtis said insurance coverage and risk-management concerns drove the level of detail.
Separately, commissioners approved spending $52,658.66 from capital reserves to begin the Office 365 migration (Resolution 25-103). Finance Director Patrick Dolan said the approved amount will get the project started but "the total cost would be over $100,000." The migration and related server upgrades were described as an ongoing multi-step project to modernize county IT systems.
