County awards $370,000 slip-lined culvert contract for Unorganized Territory

The Somerset County Commissioners voted to award the Unorganized Territory slip-lined culverts project to EJP Water Solutions of Gardiner for $370,000. The award covers 13 culverts, some as large as 8 feet in diameter; the motion to award the bid (Resolution 25-105) carried 5-0.
UT Road Commissioner Phil Curtis explained the technique to commissioners: "the plastic liner slides into an existing, undamaged steel culvert that is reaching the end of its 25-year life span." The work is intended to extend service life without full culvert replacement. The award was made during the Unorganized Territory agenda segment and will proceed under the scope included in the bid packet.
