The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Budget Amendment No. 24 to pay Vaya Health $163,959 for fiscal year 2025.
Commissioner Casey Johnson moved to approve the amendment, citing that Vaya Health did not invoice the county until after the final FY2025 check run and the liability rolled into fund balance. The amendment takes the amount out of fund balance to pay the vendor and avoid delays.
Chairman Hardin C. Kennedy said the action "will speed up the process," noting the county's interest in getting refunds and obligations cleared promptly.
