Road commissioner reports sand and salt deliveries, discusses storage and long-term shed options

The road commissioner told the board the town currently has just over 1,300 tons on site of the 1,500 tons ordered and that the contractor delivered additional mixed material and roughly 65 tons of salt for blending. The estimated salt concentration in the pile is about 4.5 percent after the most recent deliveries.
Board members discussed covering the stockpile to prevent salt loss during rain events and considered longer-term capital planning for a sand/salt storage shed that could save the town several thousand dollars a year in salt usage. The board asked staff to keep tracking weight slips and supplier invoices to support documentation and budgeting.
