A representative of the sheriff’s office told the board the town asked for help and that the MOU spells out how the county will assist. “We were contacted by the town to assist them enforcing their ordinances,” the representative said during the meeting.
Commissioners moved to approve the MOU by voice vote. No dissenting votes were recorded on the record during the public meeting.
The approval authorizes county staff to finalize execution of the document and to coordinate with Leesburg on operational details. The board did not specify a budgetary allocation tied to the agreement at the meeting.
