Consultants will evaluate a menu of options: standard signage, 'your speed' feedback signs, rapid-flashing beacons at crosswalks, or flashing stop signs where warranted.
Members discussed trade-offs: rapid-flashing beacons can improve visibility but are push-button devices and cannot be used at stop-controlled intersections; flashing stop signs can be time-limited to school hours to reduce nighttime complaints. The committee asked staff to present consultant options at the next meeting and to consider how signage fits with pending sidewalk projects and other grants.
