Eaton County 911 director outlines training, equipment rollouts and countywide WEA test

Kelly Cunningham, Eaton County 911 director, told commissioners that several dispatchers attended a weeklong FEMA incident-tactical-dispatcher training as part of statewide interoperable communications training and that mobile computer terminals (MCTs) are being deployed to smaller agencies (Grand Ledge, Potterville, Olivet, Bellevue, Charlotte, Eaton Rapids) funded through the 0.911 millage.
She said Eaton County participated in a voluntary tornado drill on March 19 that included outdoor siren activation, Rave Alert opt-in messages and a live wireless emergency-alert test across Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties. Kelly reminded the committee that outdoor sirens are designed for people outdoors and urged multiple alert modes for indoor notification. She also announced a telecommunicator promotion effective June 9 and noted an upcoming supervisor retirement on May 31.
