City introduces updated Sewer Master Plan; adoption to return to council

Engineering manager Araceli Casares introduced the city's updated Sewer Master Plan and summarized key findings from a year-long study, noting the collection system serves more than 24,000 connections and about 233 miles of pipe. Staff described the modeling approach, conservative wastewater projection (250 gallons per EDU per day), prioritized condition and capacity improvements, and the resulting capital improvement recommendations categorized by timeframe and quadrant.
Casares said condition improvements identified by CCTV and assessments include repair and rehabilitation projects and lift-station maintenance; capacity items identified by hydraulic modeling include upsizing certain trunk mains and new force mains in growth areas. She said the plan will be used to inform future budgeting, PFE nexus studies and CIP scheduling and that staff will return with a formal adoption item. Council asked clarifying questions about which projects are online resources and about the age distribution of the system; staff said the master plan will be posted on the city's website and that specific CIP projects are included in the budget when approved.
