A representative of the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office presented the March activity report, citing multiple vehicle-theft investigations, armed robberies and arrests, and a pursuit in which a patrol vehicle was struck and a deputy was injured and treated at a local hospital. She described ongoing investigations and several multiagency responses that used drones, K-9 units, and regional dive teams.
The report also recounted a March 15 incident at the Lansing Mall that prompted widespread panic among event attendees; deputies later reviewed video and interviews and concluded there were no shots fired and no victims of a shooting. The office also assisted state police on a body discovered north of M-43 and recovered a deceased driver from the Grand River after an automatic crash notification; the dive team recovered the body at about 8:30 a.m.
