The City of Lincoln council unanimously adopted the Lincoln Economic Development Action Plan 2030, a streamlined implementation roadmap that collapses nearly 70 prior strategies into 12 actionable initiatives and an implementation workbook to track timelines, responsibilities and outcomes.
Economic development specialist Daniella Stepic said the updated plan focuses on three strategic pillars—business development, retention/expansion and permitting/competitiveness—and emphasized near-term work such as business concierge services, a downtown innovation hub, and efforts to reduce retail leakage. "The action plan provides a focused and coordinated roadmap for strengthening Lincoln's economy," Stepic said, and staff recommended council adoption. The council approved the plan 5-0 and directed quarterly updates to the Economic Development Committee and annual reviews of the workbook; staff said future funding needs will be brought to council as specific projects advance.
