Caldwell County Fiscal Court approves routine business, sets tax-rate hearing

Judge-Executive William Dakota Young called the Caldwell County Fiscal Court to order on Aug. 27, 2024, led the pledge and opened the meeting with a prayer led by Magistrate Brent Stallins. Clerk Jennifer Hale administered roll call, which showed Judge-Executive Young and Magistrates Elbert Bennett (Dist. 1), Jeff Boone (Dist. 2), Brent Stallins (Dist. 3) and Jeff Simms (Dist. 4) present along with county staff.
Magistrate Brent Stallins moved to approve the meeting agenda, seconded by Elbert Bennett; the court recorded a unanimous vote in favor and the motion passed. Later, Magistrate Jeff Boone moved and Stallins seconded approval of the Aug. 13 and Aug. 21, 2024 meeting minutes; the court again voted unanimous to approve. Judge-Executive Young reminded attendees that there will be a public hearing to receive comment on the county tax rates to be set for 2024. Clerk Jennifer Hale noted paperwork for items to be heard at the next meeting must be submitted to the Judge's office by Sept. 6, 2024. The court adjourned following a unanimous motion to end the meeting.
