Assistant Superintendent Jason Vaughn presented the fiscal year 2026–27 budget proposal and recommended the board adopt it as presented. He told trustees the state legislature had completed its budget process and that the district expects additional money related to student‑support and professional‑development block grants, special education, and kitchen/infrastructure funds.
"There is some news of additional money relating to the student support, professional development block grant, as well as additional money for special education and also additional money for the kitchen and infrastructure training funds," Vaughn said, noting the added state resources could increase district funding.
The board voted to adopt the FY2026–27 budget proposal. Trustees then approved Resolution 2026‑34 to designate certain portions of the general fund ending balance as committed fund balance, per GASB 54, to cover expected future costs including a 14‑week paid pregnancy disability leave, compensation increases for union members, the district's SERP payments and other post‑employment benefits.
Vaughn characterized the fund designation as a prudential step to set aside resources for known future obligations; trustees voted to adopt the resolution.
