Commission identifies two trail alignments to link trails with business district, prefers Selden Street option

Presenter walked commissioners through maps showing two primary options to link Park Lane, Selden Street and Hazel Terrace to the business district, identifying tax-lien parcels, privately owned segments and encroachments that affect routing. Presenter called Selden the "preferred" option because it is flatter and more bikeable; Hazel Terrace would be more out of the way and steeper.
Presenter also noted an Old Derby Trail in New Haven that has been restored and could provide an alternate connection into Woodbridge. Commissioners discussed trailheads, signage, potential boardwalks or railings where slopes are steep, and the need to consult the town attorney about abandoned paper roads and legal access. Chair recommended bringing the EDC in for the connectivity project's open house and to explore grant opportunities to fund trail improvements.
Members asked staff to prepare topographic and ownership summaries for the Selden corridor and to present the trail concept to EDC and the Board of Selectmen for feedback before the next commission vote.
