Road Department low bidders reviewed for three township scratch-and-seal projects; chloride procurement planned

For Bertrand Township the low bid was Rieth-Riley at $72,739.50 (Michigan Paving $80,090.22) against a projected budget of $90,000. For Baroda Township Rieth-Riley bid $168,877 (Michigan Paving $172,628.88) with a projected budget of $200,000. For Bainbridge Township Rieth-Riley bid $132,531.50 (Michigan Paving $138,355) with a projected budget of $175,000. The minutes record the committee’s direction to departments to move forward with the lowest responsible bidder that meets specifications.
The committee also reviewed bids for liquid calcium chloride (Bid 2026-003). Great Lakes Chloride submitted a per-gallon rate between $0.79 and $0.85; the projected spend for that commodity is $400,000. Commissioner Rayonte Bell moved and Commissioner Teri Freehling supported referring the chloride bids to the Road Department with the same lowest-responsible-bidder requirement; the motion was recorded as carried.
