Prosecuting attorney asks board to seek RFP for court office build-out and victims' room

The county's prosecuting attorney presented a written request that the board consider modifying plans for the new front court office to include a private victims' meeting room and additional security measures.
The prosecutor told the board that the office brings in about "20 to 30,000" a year to the county and that a separate victims' meeting area is important both for statutory obligations and for victims' comfort and staff safety. The prosecutor said, "what we're asking for is 3 doors, 2, 3.5 walls, I guess," and described a configuration that would separate victims from law-enforcement processing.
Board members raised construction and systems concerns, noting the location of thermostats, baseboard heating, ventilation and sprinkler requirements. Several members said they wanted a contractor walk-through and cost estimates before finalizing plans. After the discussion the board voted to request an RFP to solicit contractor input and corrected drawings; the prosecutor thanked the board and said the office was "excited for the move."
