Resident urges attendance at EarthFest, offers small-scale solar workshops

Joan Potter Summer of Onoda Township used public comment to highlight EarthFest programming at the county library and a three-part series on small-scale solar installations offered on Saturdays in April. She said the events include talks and demonstrations for people who are off the grid and want small solar systems for cabins, camps, or farms.

“We're trying to encourage people who may be off grid or want to have their camps have some kind of a small solar array,” Joan Potter Summer told the commissioners, noting flyers and a virtual workshop were included in the meeting packet. She encouraged the board to help publicize the events and emphasized the sessions are intended for everyday residents seeking practical, affordable options.

The programs include talks on national parks videos, technology topics and practical demonstrations; Summer asked the county to share the flyers so people who could benefit from the workshops—campers, cabin owners and residents without grid connections—would know about the offerings.
