Allen/Johnson bridge bid awarded; local match cited

During the Road Commission presentation, the presenter said the Allen/Johnson bridge project was successful in a federal local bridge program application and that a contractor bid had been accepted. "So we applied, 2 years ago and we were successful in getting the Allen Johnson or bridge funded... 1,360,000," the presenter said, and noted the local match required for that award would be 5 percent.
The presenter added that other bridges, such as Kivimaki and Woodland Bridge, remain in the design or bundling phase pending state selection and funding. The board was told that bridge application deadlines (April 1) guide prioritization of which structures the commission pursues.
