Fiscal Court approves resolution to accept $2 million economic-development allocation from HB 990

Kenton County approved a resolution to accept a $2 million allocation from House Bill 990 for infrastructure and economic development; the resolution authorizes drafting an MOA with the state so funds can be drawn down beginning July 1.
Treasurer Kurt Greivenkamp told the Fiscal Court that the $2 million allocation arrived through House Bill 990 and that the county must pass a resolution to allow the state Memorandum of Agreement to be drafted and the funds to be drawn down on July 1. "This is $2 million for economic development for the county," Greivenkamp said.
Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann thanked staff for securing quick access to the funds. Commissioner Jon Draud asked whether this extends a prior allocation; Knochelmann said it is an extension of last year’s effort and that applicants will submit proposals to the county for consideration. Commissioners approved Resolution No. 26-12 unanimously, 4-0.
