During small-group exercises at the Dec. 11 work session, participants completed a Community Asset Inventory that prioritized recreation and tourism as Huntsville's primary assets. Ms. Russell summarized the group findings and said properties in strategic locations to serve visitors also ranked highly in the inventory provided to the county planner.
Groups reported concerns that businesses face seasonal fluctuations, particularly in the shoulder seasons between winter ski and summer recreation periods. The minutes note participants singled out restaurants as an opportunity tied to the reservoir and nearby resorts but flagged workforce and off-season demand as obstacles to sustained operations.
