Huntsville holds work session to begin economic development planning

Huntsville Town held a work session on Dec. 11, 2024, to begin a multi-step economic development planning process. Tommy Christie, the town's economic advisor, opened the meeting and presented an overview of the town's economic status; attendees included two town council members, Mayor Richard Sorensen, the town treasurer and clerk, Weber County Economic Development Director Stephanie Russell, and several community members. The session ran from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Huntsville Mercantile.
Participants completed a Community Asset Inventory and a Development Project Visioning activity in small groups. The groups identified recreation and tourism as Huntsville's leading assets and drafted short vision statements emphasizing the town's semi-rural character. County economic staff outlined next steps and scheduled two further planning meetings to refine opportunities and potential public/private partnerships.
