Parents and swim-club leaders urge county intervention as YMCA limits lane rentals

Rebecca Ali, another GMAC board member, said the new YMCA pool is smaller and urged the county to explore continued bubble use, lane time at the College of Southern Maryland, or partnership agreements to preserve programming.
Parents and community members said the YMCA’s access rules and membership fees make casual daily access difficult. Jennifer Clancy cited YMCA pricing she found online—“a family of 4 making $60,000 a year is expected to pay $103 a month” —and asked the commissioners to help the YMCA and community find a solution that preserves local youth swim programs while keeping public access.
