BZA grants variances and renewals for sawmill, auto repair, storage and accessory structures

The Preble County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a set of permits and variances affecting several properties at its Jan. 27 meeting. Paul Personette’s renewal for a sawmill at 2911 State Route 725 West was approved with no planned changes; Jeffery Eby’s auto‑repair business permit at 10977 State Route 503 was renewed (the board noted operation since 2017). David Ulrich’s application to convert existing structures at 2330 Enterprise Road into rental storage for boats and RVs was approved; Clarence Eby testified in support, citing longstanding use.
The Board also approved variances for accessory structures. Jerry Brown requested a 34‑foot rear setback for a 16'x24' shed and reduced side/front setbacks for a replacement garage, telling the Board, "my old garage is fallin’ down." John Utsinger’s request to place a 20'x30' pole barn with a 12' south side setback (instead of the 25' minimum) was granted; staff reminded applicants to consult building‑permit separation requirements when applying for building permits. All actions were approved by roll call.
