The Salem Township Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to Brodner Technical Services, Inc. on Dec. 18 for traffic-signal safety modifications and upgrades at six intersections along State Route 22 and a flashing school-zone device along State Route 119. The board recorded Brodner’s total (base plus alternates) low bid at $913,020.06 and voted unanimously to award the contract.
Bids opened at a special advertised meeting on Dec. 17 and were held for award at the Dec. 18 meeting. Other bids included Traffic Control & Engineering Co., Inc. ($1,111,463.80) and Bruce-Merrilees Electric Co. ($1,084,501.00). The board received alternate bids to replace two damaged mast arms but chose to table the alternate award; Supervisor Ken Trumbetta said the township’s engineer found the damage “isn't that bad” and replacing mast arms now could create wiring-length issues. Resident Eric Hageder asked who would pay if damage resulted from accidents; Trumbetta said the responsible party has not been identified.
