Salem Township applies for state funds for waterline extensions and equipment purchases

Salem Township supervisors on Nov. 20 approved two grant applications that would seek state funds for waterline extensions and for township equipment. The board adopted Resolution No. 29‑2024 to pursue Pennsylvania Race Horse and Gaming Act funds through the Commonwealth Funding Agency for a multi‑area waterline extension project and approved Resolution No. 30‑2024 to seek funds for township equipment purchases.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe told residents the waterline work under consideration includes five potential locations—Kennan, Tucker, Hornock, Kaufman, Tower and Apple Lane—and estimated individual projects could range from about $346,000 to $731,000 each. Jobe stressed final selection will depend on project merit and the township’s ability to secure grant funding. The board designated an agent to execute grant documents and authorized submission of pro forma materials.
