Slickville VFD to receive $35,000 from Salem for community generator

Salem Township supervisors unanimously approved a $35,000 donation to the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department to purchase a generator intended to support warming and cooling station operations during power outages. Slickville also received a $10,000 grant for the same purpose.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the donation will complete one of the township’s Hazard Mitigation checklist items and noted that the township had previously donated $60,000 to the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department to help pay off a truck. Resident Debbie Perino asked whether Forbes Road VFD will receive additional support; the board did not authorize further funding at this meeting.
