Salem transfers $8,515 to cover Crabtree-area sewer feasibility study; study 'promising,' board told

The Salem Township Board approved an $8,515 transfer from the Special Projects account to the Sewage Revenue account to pay Morris Knowles for a feasibility study on a Crabtree-area sewage expansion.

Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the feasibility study and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation are nearly complete and that proposed designs would pump flows to the 14 Mile Run system, which he described as operating at about 30% capacity and could accept an added estimated 22% load. Residents pressed for timing of a public meeting; one resident, Ed Rebitch, noted private entities such as Sustainability Partners have offered funding structures that would keep debt off the township balance sheet and enable repayment through user fees. Jobe said the township must review the study internally and coordinate with Unity before sharing results publicly.
