Boyle County issues proclamations recognizing treatment courts, mental health, EMS and beef month

At its May 12 meeting the Boyle County Fiscal Court issued proclamations recognizing National Treatment Court Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, National EMS Week and Beef Month, and publicly thanked local EMS, crisis response, public works and agricultural stakeholders.
The Boyle County Fiscal Court used part of its May 12 session to present several proclamations and recognize local programs and personnel. Judge Executive Trillie L. Bottom read proclamations recognizing treatment courts, Mental Health Awareness Month and National EMS Week, and presented a separate proclamation declaring Beef Month in Boyle County.
Judge Whitney Johns, who presides over the local drug court, introduced drug court coordinators and participants and said the program “is an amazing program where people’s lives are being saved” and described the court as delivering taxpayer savings through reduced recidivism and referral to treatment services. The court also thanked public works staff for storm response during a recent ice event and recognized EMS crews and the crisis response team for their role in mental health and crisis intervention.
Speakers highlighted concrete examples: a deputy and the crisis response team removed firearms from a home during a suicide attempt and the county credited crisis response with saving lives; EMS leaders described improved cardiac survival rates locally compared with statewide averages. Farm Bureau representatives accepted Beef Month recognition and announced a free hamburger drive‑through on May 20.
