Sheriff's office warns of event traffic conflicts, says it will enforce OHV rules in Huntsville

Lt. He said running the Iron Lung Ride through Huntsville on the same weekend as the Spartan Race at Snowbasin placed an unusual strain on traffic control resources and asked the town to encourage the Iron Lung organizer to select a different weekend next year.
"The July fireworks went well, and there were so many people that it took an hour to get all the cars out of town," Lt. Butler said, according to the sheriff's monthly report included with the meeting materials. He asked for specific details about the Toast concert scheduled for Aug. 31 so the sheriff's office can assign officers for patrol and traffic direction. The report also lists upcoming valley events including the Upper Valley Balloon Festival Sept. 14 and the Huntsville Marathon Sept. 21. Lt. Butler said deputies will begin enforcing Huntsville's OHV policy and that he would investigate a resident's concern about a stop sign near Carol Stoker's house.
The council did not take a formal action on staffing requests at the meeting; Lt. Butler asked staff to provide event details so the sheriff's office can plan patrols and traffic control resources.
