Council approves up to $14,000 for crack-seal on town streets

Councilmember Bruce Ahlstrom presented the street-maintenance recommendation to purchase three tons of hot-rubber crack sealant and to proceed with the low-cost contractor selection; he told council the town solicited bids and recommended work be prioritized on newest roads first. "They bid for 3 tons of crack seal to fix cracks on Town streets," Ahlstrom said during the discussion. Ahlstrom moved to approve up to $14,000; Councilmember Artie Powell seconded and council approved the motion by roll-call vote 4–0.
Bids discussed in the packet included LaRose Paving and Morgan Pavement; the town's practice is to work until the allocated material is exhausted and repair newest roads first. Council asked staff to manage scheduling and traffic control with the contractor and to return if additional funds are needed.
