"It is a used 2006," Clayton said when describing the truck to the commission and noted he had a quote for spare tools and decals as separate costs. Commissioners discussed available funding (special equipment funds were cited) and the logistics of sending someone to inspect the vehicle before purchase.
The chair moved to give Clayton authority to spend up to $95,000 on the unit if, after an on-site inspection, the vehicle met expectations. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Commissioners also discussed options to advertise or auction the vehicle later if the county kept it as a backup unit.
The purchase authorization was contingent on inspection and vendor assurances; staff and commissioners did not adopt additional conditions at the meeting beyond the spending limit and inspection requirement.
