Chippewa Falls robotics team showcases season, wins gracious professionalism award

“I'm Silas. I do the electronics on the team, and I helped out on the design as well,” student Silas said, describing a 9–1 preseason record at an early event. Aurora Gillette, a senior and four‑year team member, told the board the team won a ‘gracious professionalism’ award at the state championship and noted the program provides diverse roles—build, wiring, electronics, media and PR—that appeal to a wide range of students. Team mentor Walter said the middle‑school program supplies 70–80% of the high‑school team, underlining a feeder pathway the district intends to grow.
Board members asked about timelines and design cycles; students explained official game rules are released the first weekend in January and teams then design robots for that season. The board thanked the team and its sponsors for supporting student learning outside the classroom. The presentation was followed by routine board business.
