In his management report the CEO thanked the county board for renovation resources to a shelter operated by the RPC and noted a 10-year partnership among RPC, the Housing Authority and United Way that has helped place families into permanent housing. He also said contract talks with AFSCME have been productive in recent meetings.
On energy policy, the CEO described bipartisan legislation he helped advance that was signed by the governor and "saves residential, commercial, and industrial rate payers money by requiring that federal funding be used first," adding that the law expands LIHEAP eligibility from 200% to 300% of poverty and could lower utility burdens for many low-income households. He said he will attend an Energy Association event in Chicago the following week to meet with utility decision-makers.
