ICRT plans new 25,000 sq ft training facility in Champaign with full-size weatherization house

Christopher Chapman, ICRT's director of training, told the commission that the training division will move from 11,000 to about 25,000 square feet at a Glen Park Drive location in Champaign and has a planned three-phase build-out. "We're gonna be moving to a location on Glen Park Drive in Champaign. We'll be expanding from 11,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet," Chapman said, describing classrooms, a full-size weatherization house for hands-on training, a multifamily unit simulation and a mobile-home underbelly training area.
Chapman said the facility will be certified to Building Performance Institute standards so the program can continue to administer national certification exams, and the first phase's build-out aims to be complete by the end of January so staff can move in. He invited commissioners to tour the existing facility and attend an open house once the build-out is finished.
