The Pratt County Board of County Commissioners voted to adopt proclamations declaring April 2026 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in Pratt County after representatives from local advocacy organizations presented the requests.
Amy Peschka, program director for the Family Crisis Center (S5), read the domestic-violence proclamation and noted the center serves victims across several counties and provides a 24/7 confidential helpline. "The Family Crisis Center Inc provides free confidential services to victims of [sexual] violence in Barton, Barber, Comanche, Edwards, Kiowa, Ness, Pawnee, Pratt, Rush, and Stafford Counties," she said and highlighted the center's prevention work in schools and local outreach. Kayla Bailey (S6), program director for the child advocacy center, read the child-abuse-prevention proclamation and urged community participation in local prevention efforts.
Both proclamations were moved and seconded from the dais and approved by voice vote. After the votes, center staff said they would provide digital slides and event flyers the county could post to promote awareness activities.
