Patricia Stewart asked the Landmarks Commission June 22 for approval to replace existing shingles with Owens Corning Duration in "Onyx Black" on her home and detached garage at 260 North High Street. Commissioners raised concerns that areas of the soffit and decorative rafter tails were damaged and that the contractor must demonstrate how the tongue-and-groove detail and other soffit repairs would be recreated prior to roofing work.
Ms. Stewart spoke with her contractor during the meeting who indicated he believed he could recreate the tongue-and-groove detail, but commissioners and staff agreed more research and a clearer scope of repair were necessary. Roger White moved and Whit Wardell seconded to table Certificate of Appropriateness #CA-26-019 to next month’s meeting so the homeowner can provide additional contractor details and documentation.
