Residents ask for Metcalf Center notice postings, gym access; CEO previews Wells Fargo building plan

Several members of the public used the Jan. 6 public-comment period to raise community-service and facility concerns.
Janice Hagen-Delaney asked the commission to add the Metcalf Center as a posting location for county notices so elderly residents without internet access can see information. "Not all of the elderly look at computers ... I would hope that you would reconsider this and put the Metcalf Center as another place where citizens eat almost every day," she said. Pete Smith urged action to reopen local gyms and emphasized how athletics "unites communities." Kevin Orrino asked about plans for the Wells Fargo building; CEO Bill Everett said staff are compiling costs, possible annual operating expenses, and grant opportunities and that a presentation to the commission is expected by the end of January.
Other commenters and commissioners discussed ice-rink conditions and delays to a refrigeration system that remains overseas, which CEO Everett said will delay the new system until next year. Commissioners agreed to pursue posting-location and facility access follow-ups.
