SWMPC joins Michigan Infrastructure Council effort to align regional infrastructure mapping

Egelhaaf said the effort aims to better align strategies for managing infrastructure assets and to advance practices such as 'dig-once' to reduce the risk of striking buried utilities, including gas lines, water mains, and fiber.
Task force members discussed how regional mapping coordination could support county planning and construction projects. No formal action was taken; staff will track the MIC mapping effort and identify opportunities to link county permitting and broadband availability data to reduce repeated disturbances to the same corridors.
