The Boyle County Fiscal Court authorized transferring $1,000,000 from reserves into the general fund to fund the June 30 closing on the Walnut Street property (the former post office). The court approved a motion to transfer the funds and delegated authority to the judge to sign closing-related documents.
Magistrates and staff discussed potential uses of the building, including sheriff office space, tax-collection storefront services and dedicated animal-control offices (which county leadership said currently operate out of the humane society). The judge and county administrator emphasized that more detailed planning about interior space allocation would follow the closing.
County Treasurer Shannon Green also presented and the court renewed a reimbursement agreement with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) for court-facilities reimbursement totaling $124,048.30 for the fiscal year, which the court approved pending follow-up discussion with AOC staff.
"We'll move the money and authorize the judge to sign all the closing related documents for the property," Magistrate (and mover) said as part of the motion to fund the acquisition.
