Council confirms appointments, selects leadership and committee rosters

At the May 14 meeting Mayor Gary Rayhill administered oaths of office for two council members and the mayoral term: Douglas Lucero (Ward I), Joyce Wilson (Ward III) and Gary Rayhill (Mayor) each received two-year oaths. Mayor Rayhill then appointed Janelle Haynes to a one-year term for Ward II; the council voted to accept the appointment.
The council selected Warren Peterson as Council President and Doug Lucero as Vice President. Committee rosters for Audit & Finance, Airport, City Improvement, Economic Development and other standing committees were confirmed; Chris Rosario was named Building, Health and Sanitation Official. The council approved Mayor Rayhill's appointment of Sara Frankenstein as city attorney and ratified the designation of Security First Bank as the official depository and Bennett County Booster as the official newspaper under Resolution 2025-1.
