City selects consultant Interface to update comprehensive plan; board asked to help

Communications staff told the planning board the city had issued an RFQ and selected the consultant Interface to lead the 10‑year comprehensive‑plan update. Staff said the 2017 plan must be replaced by 2027 and that the solicitation was successful; contracts were signed the day of the meeting.
Staff asked the board to help as stewards of planning efforts and to designate two to three members to serve as liaisons and to participate in working groups and public engagement as the consultant begins the process.
Staff also updated the board on the online permitting rollout: zoning and planning applications are live and historic‑preservation applications are scheduled to be online by October 1 to meet state requirements, and staff thanked Hayden McDermott for leading the effort toward compliance.
