The Washington County Board of County Commissioners voted July 28 to empower the board president to sign ADCI task order #15 for $1,117,144 to finish design work for a replacement air traffic control tower.
Airport Director Neil Doran said the task order covers a full 100% design package with some construction‑phase services and initial site preparation. "This will allow the design work to commence soon and we hope to be finished in some 12 to 14 months," Doran said. He noted the board previously accepted $1.5 million in state funds for the project on June 30.
Public Works Director Andrew Esherman confirmed the task order is intended to use all available funding and provide a path toward eventual construction. Commissioners asked whether the task order would reach final design; staff answered in the affirmative. The motion to authorize execution of the task order carried unanimously (5-0).
