Court declares out-of-service fire truck and gazebo surplus; items to be auctioned

The court reviewed photos and condition reports and declared two pieces of county property surplus on July 28: an older fire engine that has failed fuel-injection components and a gazebo described as salvageable only by haul-off.
The judge said the fire truck’s fuel injection is out, that replacement parts are no longer made and that air brakes are locked, leaving the vehicle immobile. "We've had several of these mechanics try...we're not gonna fix it," the judge said before the court voted to declare it salvage and put it on auction. The judge also described the gazebo as potentially useful to someone who could haul it off and approved putting it on the auction block with a nominal starting bid.
No sale price was set beyond the starting bid convention discussed, and staff said if nobody bids the county will retain the items. The court approved both salvage declarations by voice vote.
