During its March 19 meeting Florence County Council approved several district infrastructure expenditures and administrative actions. Council authorized up to $13,972.50 from Districts 4 and 9 to purchase five laptops for the Timmonsville Police Department, approved up to $10,000 from District 8 for historical artifacts and phase-one landscape remediation at the Florence Veterans Affairs facility (plus up to $10,000 for signage replacement), and approved up to $20,000 from District 4 to assist the City of Florence with soccer complex improvements.
Council also declared multiple public-works items surplus for disposal via public internet auction and—after an executive session to discuss contractual matters—authorized the County Administration to enter negotiations with Bell Helicopters for purchase or lease of a Bell 505 helicopter. The motions for these items were made and passed by council without recorded dissents.
