County awards three-year contract for firefighter physicals to local vendor

Florence County Council authorized award of RFP No. 19-25/26 for annual firefighter physical examinations to Fitness Forum of Florence, SC. Two proposals were received and the county's selection committee'which included Fire Chief William Dillon and other staff'ranked Fitness Forum as the highest scoring respondent. The contract terms include tiered pricing by role and will run for three years pending final negotiation and County Attorney review.
County staff emphasized that the exams are part of National Fire Protection Association guideline NFPA 1582 compliance for firefighter medical fitness and that the Unified Fire District averages about 300 total personnel. "The annual exams are a part of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1582 guidelines," staff said. Councilman Jason M. Springs moved the award and Councilman Andrew Rodgers, Jr. seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
