The Florence County Council on Nov. 21 approved two position reclassifications in Public Works: Position No. 003 (Public Works Area Supervisor) and Position No. 014 (Drainage Supervisor) will be reclassified from Grade 18 to Grade 27 to better align compensation with supervisory responsibilities.
Separately, the Council approved a budget-neutral adjustment for the Sheriff's Office: reclassifying a slot to Major and authorizing a contracted Internal Affairs Investigator (annual contract cost $75,000). The total annual cost of the requested changes was recorded as $184,545; because the fiscal year is partially complete the estimated FY24/25 budget impact is approximately $107,651 and will be absorbed using current salary savings, per staff and HR review.
