Florence County Council approved a one-time Compensation and Classification Phase II longevity incentive on March 19 to recognize 256 employees who have served the county ten years or longer. The package was estimated to cost $638,236 including FICA and is scheduled for an April 2026 payout.
County Administrator Kevin Yokim said the incentive responds to pay disparity revealed by the county's recent compensation and classification plan and that the one-time adjustment starts at $1,000 for those with 10 years of service and increases in five-year increments thereafter. Vice-Chair C. William Schofield moved the measure and Councilman Willard Dorriety, Jr. seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
