At the Nov. 21 meeting Florence County Council authorized a $500 Christmas bonus for county employees for FY2024/25. The motion (moved by Councilman Dorriety and seconded by Vice-Chairman Yarborough) passed unanimously.
County staff noted $100 of the $500 bonus was already included in departmental budgets; the remaining $400 per employee (estimated additional cost approximately $400,000) will be funded from the General Fund fund balance. Staff reported preliminary indications that the FY2023/24 General Fund closed approximately $4,500,000 ahead of budget due to personnel and other cost savings, supporting the fund-balance recommendation.
