The South Dakota Department of Transportation Commission approved awarding the centerline rumble stripes contract (project 5) to Sir Lines A Lot doing business as Dakota Traffic Services. Sam Weisgram told the commission the low bid was $1,338,000, which staff said was $149,000 (12.6%) above the engineer's estimate of $1,189,000, and recommended award.
"This project consists of installing centerline rumble stripes on several routes within the Pierre region," Weisgram said. The commission moved, seconded and voted to approve the award; no public input was recorded on the item.
Contracts will be routed and preconstruction scheduling will follow SDDOT practice.
